Digital IC Design Engineer (m/f/d)

Main purpose & scope of the job

As part of the design team developing memories the IC Digital Design Engineer has to contribute to memory architecture definition, design the device User Interface using high level hardware description languages, implement microcontroller architecture to handle memory operations and write related FW algorithms. Verify block level and fullchip functionality from RTL to post silicon. Define DFT requirements, implement STA and synthesis. Provide robust design, reaching performance requirements and meeting schedule. Contribute to IP creation by proposing innovative ideas and functionalities

Your duties and key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to define memory architecture in terms of building blocks and functionalities for both macros and testchips
  • Select and design the memory User Interface
  • Contribute to define and design the embedded microcontroller architecture to control memory operation
  • Work with analog, technology and product engineers to define the desired memory operations: read, program, erase and test modes
  • Implement the related microcontroller FW
  • Design test bench and generate test cases to verify the designed blocks as well as the overall memory functionality from RTL to post silicon
  • Manage STA, DFT and synthesis
  • Provide detailed documentation of the designed circuits. Performance, block size and layout considerations, power consumption and test modes descriptions should be included
  • Work with Physical design engineer for STA and critical aspects of designed blocks
  • Foster innovation as part of the normal design activity to contribute to IP generation


  • M.Sc. / M.Eng. in Electrical engineering or similar field of study
  • 5 years of experience in RTL digital design
  • Good knowledge of high level description languages (Verilog, VHDL)
  • Good knowledge of Cadence tools (VDI, Xcelium, Conformal)
  • Familiar with advanced CMOS technology nodes -Verilog-A modeling
  • DFT, RTL synthesis and STA
  • Background in NVM design is a plus
  • Experience with different interface protocol (SPI, I2C, JTAG, AMBA, ONFI, NV-DDR)
  • Experience in RISC controller design
