Sales Application Engineer m/f

Position Summary:

The Renewable business is directed at the global renewable power market and includes the development, manufacture, marketing and sale of grid-tie solar inverters, wind turbine converters, and off-grid solar and backup power inverters and provision of related services.

Through in-depth technical knowledge of our range of three phase solar products, the Sales Application Engineer provides timely and effective sales and technical applications support to Xantrex customers, prospects, representatives and distributors. The Sales Application Engineer works in a team environment supporting the European sales organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Travels (30%) into the field, throughout Europe, to provide technical sales support and training to support Sales Managers needed
  • Provides technical support to customers, prospects, representatives and system integrators
  • Assists prospects, representatives and distributors in selecting and or designing the best performance/price match of Xantrex product for their application
  • Responds to technical problems for major accounts related to sales of Xantrex products
  • Acts as a liaison between customers and Xantrex Engineering in solving problems that require expertise at a higher technical level
  • Maintains awareness of competitive products, comparisons to Xantrex vs. features, benefits, pricing, strenghts and weakness
  • Collaborates with Product Management, providing input for product improvements and new product development
  • Reports to sales management any large order opportunities, business activity and customer problems
  • Collaborates with internal solar product teams, including Engineering, Quality, Service, Product Management and Manufacturing to address customer issues as they arise from time to time
  • Coordinate customer visits to Xantrex corporate headquarters, provide agendas and ensures appropriate Xantrex personnel participate as required. Prepares meeting reports highlighting action items required and ensures the action are completed on time
  • Performs other departmental duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Requires a technical degree or equivalent experience with at least 6 years in a product and service support environment, preferably in an application engineering position in a related industry
  • Thorough knowledge three-phase electrical systems and applications
  • Thorough knowledge of power conversion technolgy and elctrical system designs
  • Knowledge of solar power system design, including specifically grid-tie solutions preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to details
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Abiltiy to provide presentation to consumers, dealers, distributors and service providers
  • Fluent in German and English, both oral and written, other languages highly desirable
